“Ghosts” or DEMONS IN DISGUISE?

We as a society are seemingly OBSESSED with “ghosts” and the “paranormal”….

In fact, here’s a most recent 2017 news story illustrating this fact:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ghosts-haunt-palace-says-swedish-queen-155413476.html

From TV shows like “Supernatural” to “Ghost Adventures” to movies like “Ghostbusters”, “The 6th Sense”, “The Conjuring”, and to “psychic readings”, “tarot cards”, “ouija boards” and “seances”, people seem to be obsessed with the idea of ghosts/communicating with the dead (which the bible calls AN ABOMINATION, by the way!)

But just what DRIVES us, AS a society, (and maybe even as a WORLD) to be seemingly OBSESSED with such things? And biblically speaking, is it possible that “ghosts” are actually DEMONS IN DISGUISE?

Let us turn to the bible for the answer:

2 Corinthians 11:14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil

1 Samuel 28:13-15The king said to her, “Do not be afraid; but what do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a divine being coming up out of the earth.” He said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped with a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did homage. Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has departed from me and no longer answers me, either through prophets or by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do.”

Note: Saul started off GOOD, with a true, HUMBLED heart for the Lord! But…..over time, God’s “favor” began to go to Saul’s head a little bit and he became “distant” and “arrogantly self-assured”, thinking that he didn’t NEED God anymore! And in ALOT of ways, our current U.S. and global society is now currently PERSONIFIED in Saul’s “fall from grace”, where, as a VERY last result, he saught out a MEDIUM (something that the bible CLEARLY PROHIBITS) to try to consort with the SO-CALLED dead spirit of “Samuel”.

We — as a nation — USED to be likened onto a “King David”, who was a man after God’s own heart. But NOW — as a world and as a nation — we have become like a rapidly spiritually deteriorating KING SAUL — who have fallen from grace and who has become a victim of DECEIVING SPIRITS, WHO ARE MASQUERADING AS ANGELS OF LIGHT!

And just WHAT does the bible, if anything, actually SAY about “ghosts/spirits”, in general? Well, we know from the following passage that when a person “dies”, they DO NOT come back (save ofcourse for Jesus Christ Almighty, who ROSE FROM THE DEAD, and also a couple instances in the bible where Jesus actually RAISED somebody from the dead — ie Lazarus, etc.):

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” – Genesis 3:19

In fact, according to http://biblereasons.com/ghosts/, 22 bible passages that PROVE that “ghosts” ARE “demonic spirits” is the following:

[[[‘You can’t talk to the dead. The dead can’t come back from the dead. Once a person dies, they either go to Heaven or Hell. You don’t have an option to be a ghost and haunt someone’s house and I will show you from Scripture’.

1. Job 7:9-10 “As a cloud fades away and vanishes, so the one who goes down to Sheol will never rise again. He will never return to his house; his hometown will no longer remember him”

2. 2 Corinthians 5:8-9 says: “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him”

3. Hebrews 9:27 states: “And just as it is destined that men die only once, and after that comes judgment”

4. Matthew 25:46 proclaims: “These people will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life”

5. Ecclesiastes 12:7 says: “then man’s dust will go back to the earth, returning to what it was, and the spirit will return to the God who gave it”

We always hear about those stories that have to do with hauntings. People come back for revenge to claim their house, but what does Scripture say?

6. Psalm 146:4 states: “For his spirit goes out and he returns to his earth and in that day all his thoughts are destroyed”

7. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 says: “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.  Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun”

Another name for Satan is the deceiver.

He seeks to deceive as many people as he can and of course demons do the same thing. You may hear about people going to phychics and talking to dead family member, but once again those are just demons impersonating the deceased and deceiving people.

All the different ghostly activities, ghost stories, haunted mansions, etc. are all the work of demons. Watch out for people like ghost hunters who try to profit off of this.

8. 2 Corinthians 2:11 “I have done this so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes”

9. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will correspond to their actions”

10. John 10:10 A “thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance”

11. Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil”

There are some people that might say didn’t Saul talk to Samuel’s ghost?

Notice that the figure did not come from Heaven. It came from out of the earth. Notice that the figure was not joyful and notice that Saul’s face was down. Scripture teaches that the dead can’t come back.

12. 1 Samuel 28:13-15 ‘The king said to her, “Do not be afraid; but what do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a divine being coming up out of the earth.” He said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped with a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did homage. Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines are waging war against me, and God has departed from me and no longer answers me, either through prophets or by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do”

There are evil spirits/fallen angels in this world.

13. Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him”

14. Matthew 10:1 “And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction”

You don’t have to be afraid because they can’t harm Christians as we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Believers are protected.

15. 1 John 4:4 “You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world”

16. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee

17. 1 John 5:18 “We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the One who is born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him”

But that does not mean we are free to indulge in demonic activity such as black magic. We are not to seek evil. It is a sin and it will harm you.

18. James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”

19. Ephesians 4:27 “and do not give the devil an opportunity”

20. Leviticus 19:31 “Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am Yahweh your God”

21. Deuteronomy 18:10-11 “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer”

Jesus did not believe in ghosts.

22. Luke 24:37-39 “They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have”]]]

The truth is, Satan knows just about everything about us. And because HE knows almost every single about us, SO DO HIS DEMONS! Therefore, the demons KNOW all about our hobbies and family members and dead family members, etc. I’ve even seen a Lifetime movie back in the day where a young mother had a 3-year old? son that died. And a “demon” was appearing to the woman IN THE FORM OF the child’s “ghost”, telling her to do things like: “kill yourself mommy, so we can be together”. DEMONS *PRETENDING TO BE GHOSTS* ARE VERY, VERY EVIL, YOU SEE? I can’t think of the name of that movie. Maybe some of the readers of this blog have seen that movie and know which one I’m talking about….?

But anyways, the next time you “think” you hear or see a “ghost”, BEWARE! Demons are EVERYWHERE these days! It’s not even POSSIBLE, biblically speaking, for a person’s “soul” after they die, to be trapped/caught between heaven and hell. The bible says so! And ONLY praying in the name of Jesus Christ (the BIBLICAL Jesus Christ, not the fake Paganized one taught in watered=down churches today) can DELIVER a person from them! (Ofcourse, there is the HOLY SPIRIT/Spirit of God, as well as “righteous angels” but those are TOTALLYD DIFFERENT from the “ghosts” that people “think” they talk to!)

Demons are EVEN in today’s popular music, movies and TV shows! This isn’t a joke! Don’t believe me? Watch the following clip and then try to TELL me demons aren’t real (bet you can’t):

The Difference Between True/Genuine Repentance Vs. “Face-Value” Repentance

Remember back in grade-school when one kid got into a fight with another kid and then the teacher later tried to make each kid say they were ‘sorry’ to one another, and how the two kids then scowled at each other and mockingly said ‘sorry’ in unison? (In other words, the two kids SAID they were “sorry” but they didn’t truly MEAN IT in their HEARTS?!)

Well, I really hate to admit this but I was actually ONE of those “kids” in the 4th grade! And at the time, I thought I was so “justified” in my actions……the girl had been bullying ME first, and so I bullied her right back, which eventually led to a one-time physical confrontation on the playground in which I shoved her to the ground. The teacher (perhaps in vain?) tried to make us both say we were “sorry” to one another afterwards, but ofcourse we weren’t, at the time!

This is a PRIME EXAMPLE of what I call “Face-Value” Repentance……..It is a SPOKEN/VERBAL repentance but NOT LITERAL!

If we turn through the pages of the bible, we see SEVERAL examples of “Face-Value Repentance”. Let us examine a few:

“And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer” – Exodus 9: 27-28

“Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you. Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.” – Exodus 10: 16-17

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthrightFor ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears” – Hebrews 12: 16-17

Now……what do ALL of these “Face-Value Repentances” have in common (including my very OWN during the time of 4th grade?) Answer: each and every individual in these cases KNOWS deep, deep down within their spirit that they’ve “done wrong in the name of the Lord” but….THEY WON’T ADMIT IT AND/OR THEY DON’T CARE!

They’re “pridefully arrogant” in their sins and even feel “JUSTIFIED” in their sins:

“And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord” – 1 Samuel 15:13 and….verse 20…..”And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses” – Exodus 1: 8-11

And these Old Testament characters are really no different than many “Christians” out there, TODAY. They “say” or “claim” they are sorry, but they are NOT “truly sorry” with tears, repentance and mourning.

What does truly “mourning” over one’s sin(s) mean? Let us turn back to the bible to find out!

Psalm 51 of King David declares:

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spiritThen will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.”

So in other words, David was grieved of his sin, not ONLY by his OWN accord, but by the LORD’S ACCORD! In other words, he was grieved at his HEART! (In other words, he was grieved in his heart, knowing how, in his own sin, he had BROKEN the “heart” of God!)

This is the polar opposite of Esau, who only became sorry after he “got caught” by his father for selling his birthright to Jacob! And if you think about it, that’s really no different than today’s “celebrities” saying “sorry” in the news media for this or that. But one really has to wonder. Are they really, TRULY sorry or just “sorry they got caught?” If they had NEVER gotten caught, would they have still partaken of that “sin”?

However, when King David in the Old Testament said he was “sorry”, he TRULY meant it! That’s WHY the bible calls him “a man after God’s own heart”. In other words, King David was mourning the fact that he knew he had pierced God’s “heart” with his unrighteous SIN! And did King David try to cling to his sin, as though it were a secret beloved pet? No! Ofcourse not! He wanted his sin FAR REMOVED from him! Because he didn’t want to do anything that he knew, from that point on, that would break God’s heart! In fact, he cared more about God’s heart than his own, I’d bet to say!

TODAY’S men and women (specifically Christian men and women) are after their OWN “hearts!” They often think, what’s best for ME? How is this going to benefit ME? They ALSO oftentimes think, Yeah well, I don’t NEED to apologize for this or that because God ALREADY knows I’m sorry, for he knows all things! Or they ASSUME someone they NEED to apologize to ALREADY knows they’re “sorry”, when that personally can’t be further from the truth!

True, GENUINE repentance means to feel SO BAD about something, that you feel spiritually sickened to your stomach about it……..SO GRIEVED that you feel like metaphorically cutting out your insides with GREAT SHAME………SO GRIEVED…that you’d do almost anything to change it (whatever sin you’ve committed/been committing). In other words, it’s a TRUE change of heart.

On the other hand, face-value repentance is just putting on a “show”. For example: A person gets caught cheating on their spouse. And oh, how “sorry” they are, and oh how they promise “they’ll never do it again”. But these types of “apologies” only go so far. What will the cheat-ER do once the cheat-EE (the spouse being cheated on) becomes “too trusting” again? Are they really, TRULY sorry or only “sorry because they got caught”?

One thing that ALL people will have in common that get thrown into the lake of fire someday (Revelation 20:15) is either that they are NOT truly sorry for all their bad deeds they’ve done throughout their lifetime OR will try to “claim” (before God) they’re sorry (but aren’t TRULY sorry, only sorry they “got caught”). In other words, they’ll be the epitome of “face-value repentance”.

On the flipside, the very few people who DO make it into the Lamb’s Book of Life (God’s record book of all his FAITHFUL servants) will have what’s called GENUINE REPENTANCE. They will be sorry NOT ONLY for the hurt they’ve caused themselves and others but for the major hurt they’ve caused to GOD ALMIGHTY *HIMSELF!* They’ll be grieved at their very hearts over the “broken heart” of God over their sin(s)!

Signs a person is TRULY sorry/repentant:

1). They realize just how “damaging” the sin(s) are to themselves and others and to Almighty God

2). They pray to the good Lord to remove the sin(s) from their life

3). They work about in ways in order TO banish the sin from their life (ex: an alcoholic will stop drinking, a drug addict will work to become clean, a person with severe anger issues will get some anger-management counseling, etc.)

Signs a person is NOT truly repentant/sorry:

1). They stop the behavior “once caught” but then quickly take back up the behavior again “when no-one’s looking”

2). They don’t see their “sin” AS sin or as “bad” of a sin as it SHOULD BE

3). They cry tears of pain, saying or claiming how sorry they are, but then immediately take back up the behavior once God/people around them have forgiven them for “said behavior”

I hope this will help you distinguish true, genuine repentance from “face-value repentance”. In other words, a person can APPEAR in the face to be “most grieved” over their “sin”, but the inside of their spirit may feel otherwise!

In other words, the inside of their SPIRITS may be saying, “ah, come on, it wasn’t/it’s not THAT bad!” while the outward expression on their face might say, Oh, please forgive me, O how sorry I AM!”

Looks can be deceiving. So be forewarned. If a person says they’re sorry, make sure they actually mean it. And if YOU yourself say you’re sorry to God and to others, make sure that YOU actually mean it!

May this post serve as a lesson to us ALL (myself included). Amen.
